However, most of those people I have and have not met also haven’t moved me to tears with their art. Punk is a flawed person, but so is everyone I’ve ever met and most of the people I haven’t. But if the world were full of flawless people, it would be empty. Now, before anyone who isn’t hot jumps down my throat, I am not saying Punk’s flaws don’t matter they do. Punk is like an artist whose talents are so bright they shine away the darkness of his flaws. Listening to Punk’s compelling speech, I couldn’t help but like him and reflect on why. (To his credit, he did go out of his way to apologize to soft people, and as a person who practically owns stock in retinol, I accept his apology.) (I’m trying to stay on track for this column more than I did on my old Dark Elevation Reports, and I must say I am off to a horrible start.)ĬM Punk’s second coming (for the third time) was even better than his second coming last time because this time, we got a Punk who sounded motivated, invigorated, and 40-percent exonerated. By the way, Chicago is a beautiful city full of beautiful sights, and the last time I was there, I have to admit that I was overwhelmed by the jaw-dropping sight of my hotel bill. – Speaking of tragic wrecks, my social media accounts are on Instagram and on Twitter because Tonight was the debut episode of CM Punk Presents: AEW Collision (a collision that is entirely unrelated to automobile accidents), and it emanated live from a packed United Center in Chicago, Ill. Not vehicular manslaughter.) I know there are a lot of places you can go to read unsolicited opinions about wrestling and car-violence, and it means a lot to me that you decided to come here. I love running down things that aren’t pedestrians, and it’s an honor to have you with me while I do it. – Hey! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my rundown of AEW Collision’s “Hits & Misses” for the week of June 17, 2022. It seems like yesterday we were going to cheerleading competitions, including nationals, and driving her to meet with Ken Anderson to hand Julia over to the wrestling world.SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN).Ĭommentators: Nigel McGuinness, Kevin Kelly, Jim Ross (Main Event Only) This weekend I am going to the Target Center to see a show put on by AEW, the company my daughter performs as a professional wrestler. I admire anyone willing to take a leap of faith, face failure, and follow their heart. I believe there are reasons people and opportunities set in front of us. Unfortunately, I'm in my 40's and trying to figure out what I want to be. I'm very proud to share my point of view of Julia's story, as I wish I had that determination at a young age. When a naysayer said they didn't believe it could happen, she turned that negative vibe into fuel to prove them wrong. Maybe it's how she wasn't shy to show off her Michael Jackson moves in front of the family, wearing what she wanted without giving a crap what others thought? One part of making her dream come true was how she spoke of her goals were going to happen. I'm unsure why as parents, we always believed she could make it happen. She decided around age twelve that she wanted to be a professional wrestler. Luckily for my daughter Julia she knew she wanted to entertain, funneling into professional wrestling. I knew I wanted to be a rock star but had zero follow-throughs and confidence. Following through with those goals and dreams is the hard part. Knowing what you want to do in life at a young age is when life is exciting. There's a time in your life when you realize where you want to be, and for most of us, it's later in life.
